YUM!! My children think the way I eat my steak is “revolting” and “awkward” (Sam’s favorite new word which he uses for everything). I think its DELICIOUS! Medium Rare + ….still moving a little bit on my plate. *Sigh*

My daughter is amazing. She’s a good girl; well, as good as any 13 year old can be. She’s helpful, and a wonderful student, very gentle and loving, and incredibly smart…..isn’t that obvious by the fact that she is standing outside today in 10 inches of newly fallen snow wearing nothing but her boots and jacket with a tiny pair of shorts having a snow fight with herself?

This Is One SMART Chickie!!
Opps! I had my photo for yesterday but totally spaced uploading it to my blog. I took this photo last night while waiting for my ds Jake to come out of basketball practice. I was sitting in my truck (my Explorer that I totally worship and adore!) thinking how cool it would be to have a photo of the interior of it. Then I looked around and realized that embarrassing was a more appropriate word…..my truck is a mess! So I took a photo of the mileage instead. Lots of mileage on my baby!! The photo actually came out pretty cool!

My actual photo for today is of my favorite coffee cup. Its HUGE! I can make 5 cups of coffee in my coffee pot and pour the whole thing in my cup….laaaa!! I drink 4 – 5 of these a day….can you spell H-I-G-H-S-T-R-U-N-G?

CAFFEINATED
My photo today is of my sweet baby boy fast asleep. Tonight wasn’t a very good night for us. When I sent him to bed I was angry with him. He takes great offense when I am angry with him and gets doubly mad at me. In fact, he didn’t even want to kiss me goodnight. The cause? I had the nerve to be upset when he decided, while in the shower, that he needed to pee, and attempted to pee into the potty from the shower. AND PEED EVERYWHERE!!!! Now, I may call him my sweet baby boy, but he is 7 years old and knows better. He was not happy when I yelled at him, nor when I made him get Clorox wipes and clean up the mess, nor when I sent him to bed early without snuggle/TV time. I admit, looking at this sweet photo of him, I did feel bad punishing him, but sometimes a mom has to do what a mom has to do.

Today was a snow day. Not just any snow day…a snow, ice and freezing rain day. Sigh. The kids FINALLY went back to school Monday and I have this entire week off to myself before I go back to school next Monday….I was so looking forward to it. Stay up late and scrap, get up and get the kids off to school, have coffee, surf digiland for a bit, and then take long luxurious naps every day. And smack in the middle of my precious week the kids have a snow day and we are cooped up in the house on my “sleep all day” day. Sigh.
My photo for today is in honor of the snow. I used Mark’s Lightroom preset to achieve the color.

Today’s photo is of this delicious new soup I found at the little corner Bagelry. It’s called Portabella and Roasted Tomato from Kettle Soups and it tastes amazing!! Unfortunately it doesn’t LOOK as wonderful as it tastes. In fact, it looks a little like someone else already ate it….eww! I love the lighting and the reflection in this photo…I just wish I hadn’t tilted the camera just so much. A little less would have been PERFECT!!

Comfort Food - Portabella and Roasted Tomato Soup
This photo was taken out my back door. We live in an apartment on the first floor and since I didn’t want a photo of the parking lot, I shot the photo angled upward at the wood line just as the sun was getting ready to set. I’m very happy with the shot, especially since I’m still learning the settings on my camera. Its only a little point and shoot (although it takes some rockin’ photos if I do say so myself!). I can’t imagine what kind of learning curve I’ll experience when I finally get my Rebel.

Today’s photo is of one of my most favorite possessions. Lee Middleton hand sculpts and creates these stunningly gorgeous, lifelike baby dolls. They look so real that they can easily be mistaken for an honest to God baby. Right down to the creases on the soles of their feet and the palms of their hands. I received mine several years ago and I love her. She lives in my china cabinet with my Great Grandmother’s Tea set, a ceramic Cabbage Patch kid my mother made me, and my assorted collection of Beanie Baby Bears.

Here is my photo for today and my catch up photos for the past 2 days.
I thought it fitting to begin my Project 365 with photos of my children. Today Jake had a basketball game and I was able to get some great photos of each of the children; or so I thought. Unfortunately I had some problems with the actual photos of Jake playing because gymnasium lights are so harsh and it took me a while to find a setting that didn’t show up orange. Unfortunately the photo I wanted to use was taken before I found that setting and I haven’t quite figured out how to get an action shot without a lot of blur. Although I must say those pictures came out far better then anything my old camera would have been able to come up with. Since I really wasn’t truly happy with those photos of Jake, I took a few of him tonight before he went to bed, in front of the Christmas tree.

Christmas Lights
I took this photo with the lights in the house off but with the Christmas tree lights on. I took several photos on various settings, and some came out as bright and light as if I had had all the lights in the house on. However, I really liked this one. There is just something very sweet and “Christmasy” to it.
I’m thrilled to finally be on the road to my 365 photos for 2009. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
I’m so excited! I desperately needed a new camera and for Christmas my mother got me a beautiful little camera that I have to say I absolutely LOVE!! So, armed with a fabulous new camera that takes GORGEOUS photos, I’ve decided (a few days late!) to join so many others in Project 365 – A Photo Project. I’m so excited. I take hundreds of photos throughout the year, but usually those are of specific events. This will be entirely different for me as it will be a daily photo of the regular normal things that make up my everyday life. To be honest, I couldn’t possibly be more excited to give this a try! I’ll be here tomorrow to start posting photos and catch up on the 2 days I missed.
